Winter 2007
January 25, 2007
- After one of the warmest spells
ever, Old Man Winter has finally made an appearance. The
high winds and cold temps have kept us from getting on the water
. Finally, the winds laid down yesterday and we were able
to slip out. What we found was the best fishing that I've
seen this winter - make that the best of all time!
We landed over 150 fish to 43" inside the bay without another
boat around for much of the day. Nature put on quite a
show! We could see hundreds of big fish as they sipped up
hoards of small anchovies on the surface. Whales were all
around us gulping up the tiny baitfish by the thousand.
Birds were in every direction and some of the gannets had
stomachs so full that they could not fly. A beautiful
sunset and calm seas capped off a wonderful day!

- We tied into countless fish during the last week. Yesterday was the best
day of the bunch with over 100 stripers on fly up to 25 pounds.
Loads of fun!

- I hate to sound like a
broken record, but the fishing continues to be outstanding!
It is hard to believe, but the fishing should only get better as
more big fish move into the area. Trust me, you don't
want to miss out on this action!

- Happy New Year! The final week of '06 was awesome to say
the least. Stripers galore! Now that the bay season
is closed, we should have some insane catch and release fishing
in the bay waters. Without hundreds of boats running over
the fish, it will be a fly & light tackle fisherman's dream!
Lots of big fish are still up north so I expect that we will be
slaying fish for at least another month... or maybe the entire
winter!
