Chesapeake Bay of Virginia - Saltwater Fly Fishing & Light Tackle Fishing

Virginia's Mathews County

Fishing charters depart from my home waters in Mathews County on the Middle Peninsula of Virginia.  I have spent my life exploring the area and hope you have the opportunity to enjoy this rural region of the Chesapeake Bay.  Charters are strategically based out of two locations to take advantage of the best fly fishing and light tackle fishing opportunities.

I run my 24' Triton bay boat out of Queens Creek Marina located at 321 Walnut Acres Lane near the town of Hudgins.  Only a mile as the crow flies from where I grew up, this area provides some of the most diverse shallow water habitat on the Chesapeake.  There are many sheltered places to hide from the wind and waves making for comfortable fishing in nearly every weather condition.  Nearby waters include Piankatank and Rappahannock rivers, Hole-in-the-Wall, Gwynn's Island and Winter Harbor.

At the extreme southern tip of Mathews known as New Point, I run my 24' Sea Hunt tower boat out of the Marina on Davis Creek located at 343 Davis Creek Rd in Bavon.  Light years away from the crowds of Hampton Roads, New Point provides easy access to the mouth of Chesapeake Bay without the headache of fighting traffic found in Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk or Virginia Beach.  Fishing grounds include Mobjack Bay, Cape Charles, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (CBBT) and Fisherman's Island.
